Yesterday, our company had the unique opportunity to participate in the Ocean Race Europe festivities in Kiel by joining the action aboard the magnificent classic schooner, Amphitrite. This 138-year-old vessel is not only a striking example of maritime heritage, but is also considered the oldest actively sailing yacht of her size worldwide. Amphitrite’s legacy includes winning the “Sonderpreis für englische Kreuzeryachten” during Kiel Week as early as 1897, where she stood out as one of the fastest yachts of her class.

Nowadays, climbing aboard the Amphitrite gives young people the chance to experience traditional seamanship, take responsibility, explore their own boundaries—and, importantly, to leave their smartphones in the bunk and be present in the moment.

Ocean Race Europe 2025: Essential Facts

Second Edition: The Ocean Race Europe is being held for the second time, with the 2025 race starting on August 10th in Kiel and drawing crowds of over 100,000 spectators along the waterfront.

Regatta Details: Seven IMOCAs (high-performance monohulls) are competing over a 4,500-nautical-mile course, racing from Kiel to Portsmouth, then on to Spain, France, Italy, and finishing in Boka Bay, Montenegro in mid-September.

Crew and Equipment: Each IMOCA team must include both genders and at least two nationalities, keeping with the regatta’s inclusive, international spirit.

Sustainability: Teams are required to generate at least 30% of onboard energy via renewables—solar, wind, or water power.

Our Technology on the Ocean Race IMOCAs

We are proud to announce that four out of the seven IMOCA yachts competing in The Ocean Race Europe 2025 are sailing with our cutting-edge OceanPack RACE systems, with some also equipped with our Microplastic Sampler. This crucial technology allows the teams to continuously collect high-quality oceanographic and microplastic data while racing—making every nautical mile count for climate and marine science.

“By equipping nearly 60% of the racing fleet with our OceanPack RACE and Microplastic Sampler, we are powering ocean science where it matters most: at the leading edge of offshore competition.”

Through these partnerships, we help advance both elite racing and the global understanding of our oceans—a testament to our commitment to technology with impact.
