Construction diary part 2 – System is ready for System Integration Test

SubCtech is proud to release the first fully qualified subsea 1 MWh Energy Storage System (ESS) of its kind! During our final steps towards delivery to our customer, we decided to share some insights and thus set up a construction diary including some important project-milestones. Part 2 features updates on our system, which is now ready for the final System Integration Test (SIT) before it gets shipped directly to its subsea location for immediate operation.

The SubCtech team has fully completed all active manufacturing measures on the ESS and is in the process of completing the final FAT this week, so we will have the system ready for final testing before delivery. For this purpose, the customer flew in 3 external service providers with a team of 10 specialists to carry out the final SIT during a planned period of 4 weeks.

The Power Skid (PS) with its power distribution unit has also been completed and is currently undergoing a long-term environmental full-load test in our specially designed water tank (18,000 l capacity), which will continue for approx. 3 weeks.

Now the next milestone coming up already being the final one: The fully approved system with a total of 2 MWh will be shipped sea-ways directly to our customer! This will be followed by final deployment work on the seabed from Offshore Support Vessels to integrate the system and make it fully operational. The first of its kind – worldwide!

How could this be achieved in such a short project time?
With an excellent base of qualified products with a long track record; a highly motivated and well-trained team and an optimal cooperation with customers as well as partner companies worldwide – One Team!

You can find out more about this in our diary part 3! Stay tuned!
