Construction diary part 1 – Skid frame delivery

SubCtech is proud to release the first subsea Energy Storage System (ESS) of its kind! On our final steps heading the delivery to our customer, we decide to give more insights and set up a construction diary including some important project-milstones. Part 1 includes the delivery of the skid frame.

The frame has been certified according to international standards by DNV as a “Portable Offshore Unit” (which includes design, manufacturing process, testing).

With the delivery of the skid frame to our new production hall (near Kiel), a big step towards the finalization of the BSS has been made. The skid was delivered on time without any problems and was unloaded with a crane onto a prepared trailer, which is used for maneuvering in the production hall.

Now the next milestones are imminent: The batteries are tested in a specially made water tank with a volume of 18,000 litres of water.

You can find out more about this in our diary part 2! Stay tuned!
