Kiel/Schilksee, – On the last day of school before the holidays, SubCtech, a leading company in underwater technology, made a donation of €15,000 to Schüler Segeln SH e.V., a local organization dedicated to providing sailing opportunities for students. The donation ceremony took place at the scenic Kiel/Schilksee sailing venue, with representatives from both organizations and local media, including the Kieler Nachrichten, in attendance.
Stefan Marx, representing SubCtech, handed over the donation check to Klaus Karpen and Martin Krämer, who are both responsible for the Schüler Segeln SH e.V. program. During the event, they shared insights about the impact of the sailing program on the students and their commitment to expanding its reach. The donation will be used to maintain and expand the fleet of nine sailboats currently available for students in Schleswig-Holstein, allowing even more young people to experience the joys and challenges of sailing.
A highlight of the event was the participation of third-grade students from Strande, who enthusiastically shared their experiences and what they had learned through the Schüler Segeln project. Their stories underscored the program’s value in teaching important skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect for nature and also the relevance of collection scientifical oceanographic data.
SubCtech expressed pride in supporting this initiative, emphasizing the importance of providing young students with opportunities to engage in outdoor activities and develop new skills. “We are thrilled to support Schüler Segeln SH e.V. and their mission to introduce students to the world of sailing. This donation is a part of our commitment to the community in Schleswig-Holstein,” said Stefan Marx.
Klaus Karpen and Martin Krämer expressed their gratitude for the generous donation, highlighting the positive impact it will have on the program. “This support from SubCtech is crucial in helping us continue our mission. With these funds, we can maintain and expand our fleet, ensuring that more students have the chance to experience sailing,” said Klaus Karpen.
The local press coverage by Kieler Nachrichten captured the event’s spirit and the enthusiasm of the students, reflecting that the initiative has proven so successful that the 20th anniversary is now being celebrated, and during this time more than 20,000 students have been introduced to sailing.
SubCtech’s sponsorship ensures that Schüler Segeln SH e.V. can continue offering valuable experiences to students, fostering a love for sailing and the sea. This donation marks a significant step towards a sustainable future for the program, benefiting many more students in the years to come.
